E3: PC or rather about the lack of it
By Starling

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Sony Wants Microsoft To Debut Its Next-Gen Hardware First

Posted on Monday, January 21 @ 08:06:05 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

It looks like Sony may not be pulling back the curtain on their next gaming machine quite yet, as the company's CEO has made it clear that they would rather wait and see what Microsoft has planned.

Kaz Hirai explained why in the Business section of The Times (via IGN), saying, "Why go first, when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?"

Does this mean we won't be getting a proper PS4 announcement within the next couple of months like everyone has been hoping? It sure is plausible, but at this point don't you think it's a bit too late for the competition (namely Microsoft) to change its plans should Sony reveal first?

When do you think we'll get a proper reveal of the PlayStation 4? Let us know in the comments below.

Not sure but judging on how old current gen is that they're new tech isnt going to be that costly to develop because it's been out for so long and, sony just wants to see how powerful they're console is because I dont think their is going to be this huge jump in graphics this generation.

Perhaps this could be that they are afraid to reveal their system if it could be seen as too gimmicky (ps4 pull apart controller) after M$ reveals theirs? Maybe if this is the case they would just go with the original controller?

If current rumours are true, the 720 is going to have clearly superior hardware power compared to the PS4. I think Sony is waiting for Microsoft to reveal first so that they can shape their campaign to tout different aspects of their console rather than letting it become simply a comparison of computing power.

I agree that Sony may want to see how Microsoft introduces their system and then prepare a counter to make the PS seem more attractive, but there's no way the next Xbox will be clearly superior in performance if they want to keep it reasonably priced.

I also think they are waiting to see what Microsoft does in regards to DRM & used games to see if they can follow suit. If MS decides to allow the 720 to play used games, Sony will surely have to scrap any plans they have to disallow them on the PS4.

Moreso inclined to showing investors this is their competition and this is what standard we have to meet in order to be successful, therefor the need for expanding the budget for next-gen playstation

How about you listen to your consumers and work on creating a product that fits your target group, rather than focusing on a product whose sole purpose is to compete with MS,,?

The PS4 was going to be released later than the 720 whether they wanted to or not, so why not tout that as your plan all along.

You think Sony's going to make the same mistake twice? You may be right, but I hope that's not the case.

Maybe Sony is hoping Microsoft has a repeat with the 360, which was basically Microsoft going FIRST! followed by the consequences of being FIRST!

Could this be a ploy to get Microsoft to hold out and have Sony unveil first?

Look how late the Six Axis came into existence. It wasn't announced until after E3 06, if I remember correctly.
