Spike TV Unveils VGA 2012 Nominees

The industry's most prestigious embarrassing award ceremony takes place in just a few weeks' time, as Spike prepares for its annual VGA celebration. To gear up for the big show, the network has revealed the nominees for each of its many categories. 

I'm not going to list every single category here, so if you want the list in its entirety, you can head over to Spike's official web page. Below, I'll just highlight the most noteworthy awards.

Game of the Year:

Studio of the Year:

Best Xbox 360 Game:

Best PS3 Game:

  • Assassin's Creed III
  • Borderlands 2

    I would be curious as to how much the winners line up with how much they spent on marketing the game, as this seems to be pretty much the criteria for the VGA. Journey doesn't stand a chance. And 3/4 games the same across XBOX and PS3? Try a little harder, or don't have those separated at all...

    Award shows are dumb in general, but Journey needs to win every award for every category.

    I think its awesome they are throwing a nod to the Walking Dead in there. Non-AAA titles still have a shot in this world!
