LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Square Enix: Final Fantasy X HD Not Canned, "Still In The Works"

Posted on Wednesday, October 17 @ 13:23:25 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

JRPG fanatics can rest easy, as Square Enix has confirmed that the HD port of Final Fantasy X has not been scrapped. 1UP got the chance to speak with someone from Square Enix at this year's Tokyo Game Show who confirmed that the game "is still in the works."

Square announced the game at TGS last year, confirming that it would be coming to both the PlayStation Vita and PS3. As for why it's taking them this long to slap a coat of high-def paint over the the game, I can't seem to figure out. Then again, this is Square, the studio that has been dangling Final Fantasy Versus XIII in front of us for over six years.

When it's all said and done, I really hope that this one makes it on the list of Cross Buy titles, as Vita owners could really use a freebie right about now. I truly pity all the fools gamers who shelled out the $250 for that thing on launch day.

Agreed. By far the game's greatest quality.

For PS Vita you say? Well, I'll have to pick it up for that then. I believe I beat this like 6 or 7 years ago.

I've only been able to finish that game once, and I did almost no side-things.
It's such a massive amount of time it demands, I'm afraid to buy this version and again stop playing somewhere along the road.

While it's one of my favorites in the series, I've not yet decided whether I'll be getting it. If they're just putting an HD coating on the original release, there would be no point. I still have my PS2 version. But if they give the treatment to the international version, or add in some other extras, I'd definitely pick it up for my PS3.

Yeah Ive used emulators before its just nice when the developer does everything (mostly) correctly like the Final Fantasy 7 re-release.

Agreed it is way better when the developers roll out their remasters or remakes.

A funny inside joke between myself and my dad was when I was in 8th grade playing the end of this game. It was right when Tidus sees Jecht alive, and Jecht says "Hey," and while the subtitle says "hi" on Tidus's reply, he actually says "HAH!" with an extremely wierd look on his face. My dad happened to walk into the room on this part and he lost it. I am lucky to ever go to my dads and say hi to him without him screaming HAH at me. Not to mention when my dad bought the game for me on christmas 2002, he handed it to me and said "I have to admit, thats a pretty hott chick on the front..." Those of you familiar with the cover understand why this is funny yet you can't blame him at the same time.
