LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Square Enix Showcases Final Fantasy XIV Dungeons In New Video

Posted on Wednesday, January 2 @ 17:22:11 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Square Enix has made a number of changes to its troubled MMO Final Fantasy XIV and hopes to win back the favor of fans with A Realm Reborn

To give you an early taste of what is to come from the game's dungeons, the studio has released a new video chock-full of gameplay. It's important to note that the footage was captured from the alpha version, so what you see may not necessarily be what you'll get in the final product.

I'm no expert when it comes to Final Fantasy MMOs (or any game of this ilk for that matter), but the thing that immediately jumped out to me was how stunning this game looks—from the character models to the environments and visual effects. Then again, I'm a sucker for the typical FF art style, so that may be swaying my opinion a bit.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be launching for the PlayStation 3 and PC later this year.

The thing that jumped out to me was how generic the game play looked. Now it looks like every other cookie cutter MMO out there. I'm beginning to lose interest.

I'm excited for this despite hating the original release.

I'm already liking the increased speed and as generic as it may seem (apart from the graphics), generic would be large step up from what it was before. And this IS mainly for the Asian MMO market. Not an excuse, just an observation to the audience they're catering to.

Ah the sweet sound of FF music. I used to play WoW while listening to FF soundtracks, maybe this game would save me a step...

There is so much flash and swirl I can't even tell what's happening.
