Star Wars Galaxies Ends with an Actual Winning Side

It's been known for quite a while now that Star Wars Galaxies is going the way of Alderaan on December 15th, shutting down its servers for good. And while the small player base left has protested admirably, SOE's remained steadfast in its decision. But they do want the game to go out with a bang, which is why this MMO is actually going to have a legitimate ending of sorts.

Starting in September, players will have the chance to affect the outcome of the battle on their individual servers, culminating in a final, decisive victory for one side in the Galactic Civil War. From the announcement, it looks like they're actually putting in some effort to provide a last burst of new content for the event:

In addition to all of the current Galactic Civil War activities, new events and contests will provide you with new ways to earn Galactic Civil War points and advantages you can use to help your side win.
At a time and date yet to be announced, but prior to December 15^th, all Galactic Civil War points will be tallied by server. The side with the higher score will win the game, and the galaxy, for each server, as well as change the way the game will end and what happens in the final moments. Celebrations will be in order for those who win and, for the losers, let’s just say they’ll be going out with a bang.
