Star Wars: The Old Republic Debuts in UK in Tenth Place
Posted on Monday, January 2 @ 09:48:45 Eastern by Nick_Tan
According to GFK ChartTrack, which tallies the sales figures within the United Kingdom, Star Wars: The Old Republic—the only game that really mattered in the last two weeks—debuted in tenth place in the week ending in December 24th, 2011. So while this doesn't include the figures in after-Christmas sales, it's a strong indicator of holiday rush sales (at least, for those who didn't forget getting Christmas gifts).
Unsurprisingly, FIFA 12 took the top spot, with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim took an arrow to the knee fell to ninth place, while Modern Warfare 3 and Just Dance 3 took #2 and #3. Battlefield 3 wasn't far behind its FPS competitor in the fourth spot. Star Wars: The Old Republic wasn't able to conquer Mario & Sonic's obvious pandering to the London base.
However, these numbers don't include digital sales, so those for Star Wars: The Old Republic is likely much, much higher than they actually are.

This seems as unlikely as the PSP beating the Vita in Japan for Christmas, oh, wait a minute...
The second hurdle will be retaining players long term. This is a challenge all mmos face and is handled by content updates. The frequency and quality of these updates have yet to be seen but to write the game off so prematurely is a bit silly.
I have no problems with the engine, I find the combat to be tight and responsive, and I have no problems with performance. Perhaps you could elaborate your problems with these things.
