Those of you wondering what the big fuss is about Sony's upcoming multiplayer shooter Starhawk will get your chance to find out. The PlayStation Blog revealed that today the Starhawk public beta will begin rolling out to PSN users.

The sequel to Warhawk features a unique Build-and-Battle style that allows players to use their points to call in fortifications and even the titular transforming mech suits. PlayStation Plus subscribers can download and play today. Those of you who purchased Uncharted 3 and redeemed the code within can start playing January 31st. Visit GameStop or PlayStation on Facebook to start playing February 7th. IGN will be handing out codes on February 14th and everyone on PSN can join on February 21st.

Santa Monica Studios, LightBox, and Sony saw fit to schedule one more date. Starhawk will be releasing to retail on May 8th. We'll get some gameplay and beta impressions up shortly to get those of you with later beta dates informed on the multiplayer action.
