Starhawk's Map Packs Will All Be Free!

Posted on Tuesday, May 8 @ 08:59:58 Eastern by

Dylan Jobe, President of LightBox Interactive, has announced through the official PlayStation blog that all of the future map packs for the newly released Starhawk will be free!

After a long discussion between LightBox Interactive and Sony Santa Monica, they came to the decision that the paid map packs for Warhawk splintered the online community too much. After three expansions, the "player community was pretty fractured." So in response, they will be giving away all upcoming map packs for Starhawk.

They will still be offering paid DLC content in addition to the free map packs, but they're still combing through player feedback for what that DLC should be.

I think with the mixed bag of reviews they'd need something like this to attract a few more tentative purchases.

That and this may keep a few from selling it back so fast thus making their money off of new sales.

How about next time they just make a better game? Maybe 3rd time will be a charm with Seahawk (Groundhawk, Skyhawk, Timehawk)?

There are two Warhawks. The third time is not the charm. :D

Seriously...this game feels like it should be a PSN game for $15. Not enjoyable after the first few matches or so. Terribly boring beta, not sure the final product will be any better. The facebook trailer was nice, but who in the hell wants to play a survival mode? Why are co-op campaigns dying?
