If you've been eager to wrap your fingers around Valve's new Steam Controller, you've got a bit of waiting to do, as the release of the upcoming control pad has been delayed to 2015.
According to Valve's Eric Hope, the company is taking some additional time to refine and improve the aforementioned controller, which means the device won't be ready for launch until next year.
We're now using wireless prototype controllers to conduct live playtests, with everyone from industry professionals to die-hard gamers to casual gamers. It's generating a ton of useful feedback, and it means we'll be able to make the controller a lot better. Of course, it's also keeping us pretty busy making all those improvements. Realistically, we're now looking at a release window of 2015, not 2014.Whether or not this means the wide array of Steam Machines, originally set to launch later this year, have been delayed as well remains to be seen. I guess we'll just have to wait a few months to find out, as Alienware is believed to be launching its first SteamOS-based gaming box this September.
