Valve's Steam Workshop is always looking to expand and has now added some Japanese history to its arsenal.

Total War: Shogun 2 is now supported by Steam Workshop granting the game a plethora of mod options. Free content ranging from maps such as Old Cairo Pyramids to unit packs are already available for seemless download and installation with plenty more to come.

Additionally, Creative Assembly has launched a Total War: Shogun 2 Assembly Kit that provides the platform needed to create any content for the game that your heart desires. More importantly, creation of accurately-protrayed historic battles are now encouraged through the toolkit. It's likely it won't be long before we see Total War: Shogun 2 utilized to portray rich Japanese history on the Discovery Channel.

Total War: Shogun 2 is a fantastic real-time strategy game and has recently gone down in price, so if you're a fan of the series or genre be sure to check it out.
