TF2 Players Raise Six Figures Buying Hats

Posted on Wednesday, March 30 @ 00:17:03 Eastern by

Remember those funny looking hats Valve were selling to aid Japan? Imagine, if you will, a furious soldier running at you with that crazy topper. If I were in that situation I'd probably stand there as he lopped off my limbs with a shovel.

I guess a lot of medics, scouts, soldiers, demomen, spies, pyros, heavies, engineers and snipers have the same idea because the TF2 community has raised quite a chunk of change for the Japanese Relief Fund set up by the Red Cross. Combined sales of each hat have already reached $300,000.

That's a whole lot of donating. I'd be interested to see how many community members drop C-notes on the most expensive generous hat, the Magnanimous Monarch. Those helpful gamers must be really happy with the extended support TF2 has seen since its release.

The hats will be available until April 6th.
