The Last of Us Gets New Screenshots

Posted on Thursday, February 9 @ 13:53:54 Eastern by

There's usually not much to talk about when it comes to a news post about screens... apart from "Hey, would you look at that!" But let's take a closer look at what these screenshots tell us.

It seems that The Last of Us will take place several years after the apocalypse, as foliage has already begun to reappropriate cars into metal jungles and river rocks. As you and your daughter (I suppose) traverse the urban landscape, you will have to fight the environment as well as looters are all to quick to steal your supplies. You might even have to stomp a pedophile. Shops become centers for gunfights and makeshift military outposts, likely both safe and overwhelmingly strict, have been shaped from utility stations.

Sure enough, The Last of Us already looks to be a Game of the Year contender.

Being a girl in a post-apocolyptic world would suck.

The pictures, especially the one where he's stomping on the assailant, make me believe the NPC girl is a great addition. As discussed in the podcast with regards to Resident Evil, playing as a girl in a survival game tends to make it more horror-inducing, where as the macho man makes it feel action like. Now, I can kick ass with Quaid and be scared for Ellen Page at the same time!
