Tipster elmoreoocyte wrote in today with a piece of news we missed over the Christmas and New Year's holidays. Just... watch if you're curious. Above you'll find gameplay from Activision's The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, the 2013 first-person shooter that takes a more action-oriented stab at the brains of AMC's hit television series.

I'm still a little drained from Telltale's The Walking Dead, but another take on a world and storyline people (obviously) have lots of love for is a welcome attraction. Do you think this first-person zombie-tale can stand up to the adventure game everyone seems to have undied for in 2012?

    Screen tearing, terrible animation, plastic hair, zombies ignoring the thrown bottle, bland environments and no sound effects. TERRIFIC TRAILER!

    This is... not looking so hot. Maybe it'll polish up?

    I don't think it's meant to be a trailer. It looks a little like leaked footage. Still, the game will be awful, and won't hold a candle to Telltale's series. I'm actually a little surprised Kirkman is letting this be made, though. Unless he has no control over AMC's right to make spin-offs.

    This is supposedly a SUPER alpha build teaser, not a real preview.

    Still I'm always hesitant of any movie/tv/comic tie ins.

    odd, i just found out about this game a little while ago while searching the web and was wondering why i hadn't heard anything about it from GR..... all of a sudden BLAM! and here it is. i read that you play as Daryl from the tv show as the main protagonist. funny thing is that the people that said they would pick this up day one said that telltales version was debatable..... I then proceeded to giggle.

    I read similar things. I read it co-stars Darryl & Merle. The angel wings at the very end of the video are the same ones on the back of Darryl's jacket.

    Yeah, they've had a bunch of TV spots for it during the show. I think they're for a contest right now that, if you win, you'll be made into an in-game character.

    I love how much the music from 28 Days Later affected the zombie sub-genre. You'd be hard-pressed to find a zombie film, game, or TV show that doesn't feature a similar piece in the score.
