GAMING NEWSThe War Z Pulled From Steam Due To Customer OutragePosted on Wednesday, December 19 @ 12:25:39 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack
![]() Sir, we have a train wreck on the loose. Two days after releasing, The War Z has been pulled from Steam due to overwhelmingly negative feedback from customers. This marks the first time a game has been taken down from the platform due to customer complaints, a true testament to its "wow, this sucks" factor. Community feedback has been extremely negative for The War Z. For one, it's obvious that many of its assets have been torn straight from other games. It looks identical to its obvious inspiration, DayZ, and I still haven't found anyone who can explain to me what it does differently. Heck, even its Terms of Service was copy-pasted from the one Riot Games put together for League of Legends. As if that weren't a big enough red flag, much of its advertised features still aren't available after launch. It was so bad that the developer had to edit its Steam description to no longer include "areas between 100 to 400 square kilometers" or "learn dozen of available skills." No, that isn't a typo on my end. This could be blamed in-part to the fact that the game is technically an alpha product. Those who have attempted to post feedback on the official forums have been met with the wrath of Hammerpoint Interactive's banhammer without a warning. It's been made clear that they have no customer service ability at all, going as far as to call critics "extreme DayZ fanboys." The funniest thing about all of this is the designer of The War Z, Sergey Titov, was the lead programmer for Big Rigs. In other words, one of the people responsible for the worst game ever made helped to design this massive lump of coal. What a résumé. More from the Game Revolution Network Comments

I was aghast at the fact that if you die, you have a 4 hour respawn (not so bad in and of itself given the genre and setting) but that you can respawn faster if you cough real world dollars.

In other news, if you completely forget the fact that World War Z (the movie, that is) is supposed to be based off of a book, it doesn't look too terrible. The producers could have just made the movie, swapped out the title with something original, and saved themselves millions in licensing and royalty fees.
