Three Publishers Band Together To Bring Project X Zone To America

Posted on Tuesday, January 22 @ 13:10:48 Eastern by

We've written in the past about Project X Zone, despite its many names, but always came to the conclusion that the 3DS game would never see the light of day in the West. Just another reason to hate region-locking. Good thing we have Playasia bookmarked for just such an occasion, right?

Time to cancel that import preorder! Project X Zone, a 3DS strategy-RPG that blends characters ranging from Mega Man and Resident Evil with Tekken, Valkyria Chornicles and other Japanese-published favorites, will be making its way to the US. The release from Namco Bandai states that "over 50 characters and 29 historic game franchises" will be represented in Project X Zone where players can form "Pair Units." Carlson Choi, VP of Bamco Marketing said:

Project X Zone is the first title to ever combine such a large cast of characters from a varied list of game franchises into one grand adventure. Developing a cohesive game and storyline to encompass all of these great characters and their battle-styles was a huge challenge that has paid off greatly with the creation of a truly unique and groundbreaking gaming experience.

Yeah, but who really cares about the story when you can put the Megabuster to Heihachi's grizzled, receding hairline and pull the trigger, right? We'll report more when a date comes into clearer focus. Until then, check out the video above for a taste of the upcoming insanity.

I was surprised that this is being localized, but its awesome. Between this, Pokemon and Luigi's Mansion, seems like my 3DS will get alot of playtime this year.

There's even more to be excited about on the 3DS. *hint hint* Fire Emblem Awakening *wink*
