Top 10 PSN Downloads of 2012 Revealed

Posted on Tuesday, May 22 @ 13:59:42 Eastern by

The video series Pulse on PlayStation's official blog has revealed the above top 10 game downloads of 2012 so far. Journey sits pretty (very, very pretty) in the top spot, which is a nice change of pace from other top 10 best sellers lists that show how much people don't really care about acclaimed games. Propelled by its pint-sized price, Angry Birds comes up close in the second spot.

But the real story is nostalgia, with straight up ports like The Simpsons Arcade Game and Final Fantasy VII. NFL Blitz and NBA Jam: On Fire Edition are remakes, which in my book counts for half. Luckily, there's room for new titles and even DLC on that list, which is great for independent studios. Gotham City Imposters and I Am Alive have their flaws, but they're spectacular when given their price points.

Do you think these top 10 games deserves to be there?

Good to see Gotham City Impostors on there. I love that game, even with the sporadic pauses once someone joins a game in progress. Overall, it's one of the best multiplayer experiences I've ever had.

I still play NFL Blitz 2001 at least a couple times a month. I'm casually on the search for Blitz 2003 just to get a slightly better experience. It's one of the most fun 2 player games you can get. Glad to see it's still appreciated. Had I a PS3 I would also download it.

I actually got one of the later Blitz games for PS2 and I found it took way too long to boot up, had too much weird things going on with breaking players bones and lacked the fierce and quick play that more acradey versions had.
