For Obsidian's crowdfunded love letter to Infinity Engine games like Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate, I was impressed by its willingness to pull back the curtain and let me see the machinery behind it.

Tretton On Xbox One-Eighty: "Better Late Than Never, I Guess They Got The Message"

Posted on Tuesday, July 2 @ 10:36:12 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Jack Tretton, the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, recently spoke to the current situation at Microsoft and how he sees the company's major policy reversal with Xbox One.

With regard to next-gen online policies and Microsoft's decision to backpedal on its online requirement, Tretton told IGN, “We spent 5 years listening to consumers, day in and day out. So, better late than never, I guess they got the message.”

The Sony exec also touched on the price of the PlayStation 4, saying that getting the console out there for as reasonable a price as possible was of the utmost importance. “You don’t know how you’re going to be positioned against your competition, and you can’t spend a lot of time being an armchair quarterback," he said. "You’ve got to execute that vision, and we felt good about it regardless of where our competition came in. And I think lower is better than high. We learned that with PlayStation 3.”

How do you feel about the position that Sony is currently in? Does Microsoft still have a lot of convincing to do and ill will to overcome? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments below.
