Tretton On Xbox One-Eighty: "Better Late Than Never, I Guess They Got The Message"

Jack Tretton, the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, recently spoke to the current situation at Microsoft and how he sees the company's major policy reversal with Xbox One.

With regard to next-gen online policies and Microsoft's decision to backpedal on its online requirement, Tretton told IGN, “We spent 5 years listening to consumers, day in and day out. So, better late than never, I guess they got the message.”

The Sony exec also touched on the price of the PlayStation 4, saying that getting the console out there for as reasonable a price as possible was of the utmost importance. “You don’t know how you’re going to be positioned against your competition, and you can’t spend a lot of time being an armchair quarterback," he said. "You’ve got to execute that vision, and we felt good about it regardless of where our competition came in. And I think lower is better than high. We learned that with PlayStation 3.”
