Tribes: Ascend Officially Launches

Posted on Friday, April 13 @ 13:46:15 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

If you're looking for fast-paced online firefights and find yourself a bit tight on cash, you'll be pleased to hear that Hi-Rez Studios' free-to-play first-person shooter Tribes: Ascend has officially launched. And before you go writing this game off as some piece of garbage just because the developer isn't charging you for the game - honestly, why do people do that?! - head over to our video page for the game and witness for yourself how awesome Tribes: Ascend truly is.

Oh yeah, did I mention there are jet-packs?

If you stop by the developer's official website, you can download the game right now, free of charge. Honestly, does it get any better than that?

I've been playing the beta, it's pretty good. I was a huge Tribes/Tribes 2 fan though so I'm possibly biased.

Yeah, I played the beta a bunch as well. It's ridiculously fun. I suck at it, but it's still really fun.

It's ridiculously fun, but I still can't get into the whole "people have access to different equipment in a competitive game" thing. I'm just a douche though, everyone should try this game, and if you don't like it play Tribes 2, it's free.

Spinfusors are horrible and people actually use assault rifles. Also, the sniper's wonderfully bad. That'll be all.

I too am a fanboy from the original 2 and have been playing the beta which captures a lot of the classic fun while adding in modern advancements. Well worth anyone's time!

I've only played Starsiege Tribes myself, and even then the game was great. I think for anyone who have played the previous games, this version will be refreshing to you. It gave me a few problems on my PC, but other than that I'd love to see this game hit consoles one day.
