Ubisoft Already Boasting Pre-order Numbers For Assassin's Creed III

Posted on Friday, March 30 @ 05:50:11 Eastern by

Ever since its triumphant debut on the cover of Game Informer, Assassin's Creed III has caught the wide attention of the gaming world and especially us Americans who have never really had a triple-A title like this be set in America's Revolution War era (at least a game that I can remember, anyway).

Apparently, we've been showing our interest through our collective pre-orders for the title, and Ubisoft is pouncing on those numbers. They have revealed that, within the same period of several weeks, Assassin's Creed III has already gotten more than 10 times the U.S. pre-order total that Assassin's Creed: Revelations received. By E3 in June, Ubisoft estimates that the pre-order total will exceed that of Revelations altogether.

Tony Key, Ubisoft's senior vice president and marketing, isn't surprised in the slightest:
Players will experience the biggest game launch in Ubisoft's history with the highly anticipated release of Assassins Creed III. With a development cycle of three years, Assassins Creed III is the true next-generation experience of the Assassins Creed brand.

The production value of the game, combined with the biggest marketing commitment we've ever made, will make Assassins Creed III the highest-selling Assassin's Creed game ever. Additionally, the new setting and hero makes this the perfect time to jump into the series for anyone that has not previously played an Assassin's Creed game.
Assassin's Creed III will arrive October 12, 2012, for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Wii U.

Assassin's Creed is probably the only annual release IP where I feel like each new installment is a step up from the previous game.
