Ubisoft Announces Assassin's Creed III Season Pass, King Washington DLC

Posted on Wednesday, October 3 @ 11:12:12 Eastern by Alex_Osborn
In an effort to fuel the Assassin's Creed III marketing hype train, Ubisoft has just revealed their post-launch plans for the game, most of which sound pretty incredible. First and foremost, gamers will be able to purchase a Season Pass, which hooks them up with all five DLC packs that will be released following the game's launch. The pass will be available within the first six months following the release of the game and will cost $29.99.

Now for the infinitely more interesting news — Assassin's Creed III will be receiving story-related add-on content in the form of "The Tyranny of King Washington", set in an alternate history in which George Washington turns to the power-hungry dark side. Ubisoft provided us with a single image to accompany this announcement. I get chills just looking at that menacing face.

Ubi detailed the content by sharing the following:

As the revolution comes to a close, a new and most unexpected enemy emerges. Driven by the desire to secure the fate of the colonies, the greatest hero of the revolution, George Washington, succumbs to the temptation of infinite power. The new King is born and his reign leaves no one untouched. To return freedom to the land our new hero must dethrone a tyrant he once called friend.

Assassin's Creed III is set to launch on October 30th for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. The publisher also confirmed that all of the DLC will be available on the Wii U as well, not that anyone cares.

Holding out for GoTY is the only way they will get the point to stop it with these season passes...full game now $59.99+tax+$29.99 = "$100+" pricing model for a single game. The set up for the next gen pricing model is already being implemented. Now I can say no DLC and it's difficult to make so the games start at $100.00 for PS4 and 720. Shortly there after I can offer the $100.00 game plus DLC season passes for only like $20.00 ($120.00) what a deal only 6-12 months into the next generationn of video games. How much will the current market bare and understand the more you allow now the higher the prices of next gen games.

I like how becoming king evidently changes Washington's physical features to become a lot more craggly and sinister.

But seriously, the concept alone sounds so much better than the AC single-player DLCs that came before.

Guess the French-Canadians never really did forgave George Washington for his involvement in the French and Indian War.

That picture did literally give me chills. I may actually finally try an AC game...but only when I get it and all the DLC for cheap through steam like nearly everyone above me said.

First a grizzly bear, now George Washington. I am so excited at all the things I will assassinate this holiday season.
