Ubisoft Sales Up 27% Thanks To Ghost Recon

Posted on Friday, July 20 @ 08:22:08 Eastern by

Ubisoft is making all of the right moves lately, and their bottom line is showing it. The French publisher posted roughly $160 million in sales in the first quarter of fiscal year 2012-2013, up 27.2% from the previous year. Ubisoft attributes the increase to higher than expected sales of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

The rest of the fiscal year should be equally profitable for Ubisoft, having major releases like Assassin's Creed III and Far Cry 3 in the pipeline.

GameRevolution named Ubisoft our favorite publisher of 2011. Will they repeat in 2012? Our Magic 8-ball says it's likely.

Assassin's Creed III definitely has my money, Far Cry I could never get into the series so I probably won't touch 3 unless a friend picks it up. Played the demo of Future Soldier and it was a great game but I have enough military shooters right now.

I'm glad people picked up Ghost Recon. It's one of the unsung heroes of this first half of the year.

Before they delayed it, I was pretty eagerly anticipating Far Cry 3. Then they delayed it due to quality concerns. I find it odd (and somewhat alarming) that such things are still an issue within a major publisher/developer four years after the last franchise entry and this late into the current generation.
