UK Devs Prefer PSN over Xbox Live 2 to 1

Posted on Friday, October 7 @ 01:36:34 Eastern by

A survey of 100 independent UK studios by trade group Tiga has revealed that 30 are developing for Sony's PlayStation Network, whereas only 16 are developing on the Microsoft's Xbox Live platform.

While these numbers still pale in comparison to how many studios are creating games for PC and smartphones, it shows that Microsoft is losing popularity with indie studios and just in general since August 2010. A part of this could be that the indie games are separated and not as advertised in the current Xbox Live interface.

Data collected from an international survey of 100 studios has projected a decline of activity on XBLA but a rise for PSN. For UK developers, "XBLA is only a touch more popular for UK developers than Nintendo's WiiWare platform".
