GTA V Launching Spring 2013 [Update: Rockstar Confirms]

Posted on Tuesday, October 30 @ 10:05:00 Eastern by Alex_Osborn
[Update]: Thanks to all the leaks, Rockstar has gone ahead and confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V will be launching this coming spring. In addition, the company also announced that you'll be able to pre-order the game starting November 5th. Oh yeah, and they released a new piece of artwork.

Check it:

[Original Story]: Over the weekend, a Grand Theft Auto fansite leaked posters advertising a spring 2013 release window for GTA V. Now, UK retailer GAME has taken to Twitter to confirm the validity of the alleged launch timeframe.

The outlet posted the following on Twitter (via IGN), which has since been taken down. Oops!

In the image above, you'll notice three different box covers, all of which will likely line the walls of retailers across the globe when Rockstar finally gets around to unveiling the launch window. If I were Rockstar, I'd be so ticked that others have revealed the news early that I'd change the release window just to throw them off. On second thought, that may not be the wisest idea.

Keep it locked to GameRevolution for future updates on Rockstar's highly anticipated open-world action title.

Why not? I like GTA IV. I know some people hated the story or the cars, but I always thought it was a great game.

The lost and the damned DLC was way better than the main story.

I preferred Ballad of Gay Tony to Lost and Damned, but yeah I did stop playing the story for like months. I went back and finished later and enjoyed it enough, but I wasn't compelled all the way through.

I didn't like the hyper realism. Like getting drunk means you'll get pulled over and I had to care about my cousin? Screw that guy. I like a good story but I like having fun while I play too. If the game trended towards GTA: SA then I'd be more interested in the game.

GTA4 was good, it was just... lacking. It was a step down from San Andreas and even like Vice City. Like Saints Row 3 was to 2.

I agree. GTA IV was polarizing, but it sure did sell! Someone out there liked it.

GTAIV was underwhelming to say the least. Maybe I shouldn't complain, I might just be getting tired of the series hardly moving forward (and whatever way they moved forward in IV wasn't exactly good).

See thats what I don't get. Underwhelming? Was it too short? Map too small? Sure maybe it wasn't as huge as San Andreas but visually it was nothing short of stunning. The virtual New York never looked so good. And the world was just so immersive. Sometimes I'd take cabs to the next mission and just watch as they drove through the city. I thought they nailed the feel of the whole thing.

I'm not being a dick either, but the whole game just felt like an HD GTA3 rather than a sequel to the brilliant San Andreas and Vice City. I get that Rockstar couldn't have made the city any differently, but it just wasn't as interesting as the Miami setting of VC. Outside of the main story (which is about 30 missions shorter than San Andreas) there is very little to do that I would consider interesting. For the first time, ever, I'm one of those GTA players who ignores the story (although i did finish it) and just drive around slaughtering people. I hated the driving engine at first, but that's probably because I took it seriously. Rockstar clearly made GTA4 with a much bigger emphasis on rampages than anything else, that's why running people over in IV is so much more fun than in San Andreas, but San Andreas is better in every other way.
