Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Rumored for Comic-Con Announcement

Posted on Monday, July 18 @ 15:10:36 Eastern by Josh_Laddin
Today we've got a rumor fresh from The Quarter Bin, who says their sources "close to the project" have spilled the beans on a big Capcom announcement for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at Comic-Con. And the winner is... Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. [We didn't see THAT coming... ~Nick_Tan]

If true (and given Capcom's penchant for re-releasing the same game over and over again, it definitely sounds likely), MvC3 will be another victim of the re-release machine. But like it or not, as long as this particular business model keeps raking in the dough, you can bet your ass that Capcom will keep doing it.

But as for what's "new", the Ultimate edition should have at least 50 characters, including the ones already released as DLC, plus a bunch more that have yet to be announced. You can be sure that they'll provide a lot more details on the roster when the actual announcement hits at Comic-Con later in the week. Oh, and the price for the re-release is supposed to be $39.99, just like SSFIV was when it first hit the shelves. We'll have more info as it comes out during the convention.

Way to go, Capcom! Not only did you revive the fighting genre, but you'll also manage to run it into the f***ing dirt again during the same generation.

I'll buy the super MvC3 edition, IF, in this version, Deadpool has his voicebox ripped out by Wolverine. He's so unenjoyable to listen to. We get that it's the Super Hyper combo! SHUT THE SHIT UP!

I understand why they did this is the past (besides the obvious reason of making more money). The version of Street Fighter II you remember most fondly probably isn't the original one. That first version only had eight playable characters, EIGHT! And two of them were identical. You couldn't even play as the bosses! The new versions really added to the game.
But now I'm going to feel ripped off if they update the game and expect me to buy it as a "New" game instead of letting me get the updates as DLC at a reasonable price.
