Cracked had a pretty funny article a couple of days ago about the biggest dlc rip offs and capcom made the list with their costume color swaps. To paraphrase, it said something along the lines of how all you get is a different color shirt. Not even a different style of shirt, just a different color. Straight up Mortal Kombat style palette swap. Also, if you are online and the person you are up against does not have the same pack, they don't even see it on you. Only you see the different color.

Do people really buy this ****? I think it would be more entertaining to copy Family Guy and put my money in the blender to liquefy and drink it so I could just literally piss it away later.

Remember when we used to get these sorts of costumes by pressing a different button on character select, or unlocking them by playing the game X amount of times?

It should be noted that the total of these packs covers every person in the game once, and once only.

I actually really liked the alt costumes in SSF4.
But I only buy the few I use for the characters I care about. I don't see why people get upset about having alternate character model costumes - completely optional - made available for those of us who like them.

To anyone saying, "These costumes should be unlockable" I think you haven't actually seen some of these. Like in SSF4, they're not color swaps, they are different models. For example, Zero's alternate will actually be a Mega Man X model. NOT Zero colored blue, but actually a model of Mega Man X. Which is neat. Not near as neat as an actual playable Mega Man, but...Old school fighters never had things like that.

Now, yes, it WOULD be even better if these costumes were unlockables. Not going to deny that. And paying for COLOR SWAPS in SF3 was retarded. But these are different, are aesthetic, and don't break the gameplay, and Capcom's a company that wants to make money. That's a fact.

Now, what I DO think is total bull**** is SFxT having Gems unlocked by buying them, since Gems actually DO affect the gameplay and put people at an inherent advantage. If Gems cannot be unlocked by playing the game, THEN I think it's a problem. People *****ing about cosmetic stuff is just plain pointless. It's COSMETIC, it doesn't MATTER except to those who like the game enough to care to buy it.

But GEMS that we have to pay for? Now THAT I will complain to Capcom about, because that's actually breaking elements of the game for people - so there'd better be either A) a way to unlock gems via gameplay or B) a No-Gems online mode.

We know Capcom wants to make money. It's kind of hard to miss the way they keep releasing the same few games every six months with stuff that should have been on the previous disc while still charging full price for it. There are ways to make money without being a dick about it and bending your customers over and giving it to them raw with no lube.

And people aren't *****ing about the dlc exactly. It has more to do with people (like me) having a hard time wrapping their head around the fact that people actually buy these things. It adds absolutely 0, zero, nothing, to the game itself.

I don't even know what to compare it to. I lack the words. It is like buying a big mac and then paying an extra $2 on top of that price so you can get a red bun instead of the normal one even though they are the same bread with the same taste.

Why? do you just hate money and want to teach it a lesson by spending it on the worst things possible?
