Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Upcoming World Of Warcraft Patch Will Make All Races Free

Posted on Tuesday, August 21 @ 08:56:11 Eastern by Keri_Honea

With the upcoming Patch 5.0.4 for World of Warcraft, every race will be playable for free, no matter which version or expansion pack players own. The patch includes the Pandaren race, regardless of whether you purchase the Mists of Pandaria expansion or not.

"We want the entire World of Warcraft community to be able to embrace their inner goblin, blood elf, worgen, draenei, or pandaren from the moment they step foot into the world of Azeroth," a Blizzard spokesman said on their blog.

The patch will release on August 28th, but since Mists of Pandaria does not release until September 25th, reason would have it that the Pandaren will not be available until the expansion pack launches next month.

Everything to win over a few new players these days. World of Warcraft joining the free-to-play model within the next 12 months?

I would be completely shocked if WoW went f2p anytime in the near future. WoW still has 9 million subs, games that go f2p usually have less than 1 million.

By the way... that also means people who just want to try the game for free (up to level 20) will be able to play all the races. Smart move Blizzard.
