Grid 2 surprised me. I was going through the motions, getting used to the cars and their handling, when suddenly something happened. I started having fun.

State of Decay Review
Undead Lab's zombie-infested action title has finally hit XBLA. Is it worth a few of your precious Microsoft Points, or should you whack it over the head with a two-by-four and continue on your merry way?

E3: PC or rather about the lack of it

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Valve Looking to Hire A Psychologist

Posted on Sunday, September 18 @ 18:07:54 Eastern by Josh_Laddin
If you have a Psych degree and love to play video games, then opportunity might be knocking right now. Who says you need to know programming and math and... physics and... nerdy stuff like that to make video games? A quick perusal of Valve's job openings shows that they're looking for a psychologist to "help craft even more compelling gameplay experiences for future Valve titles." There's also an opening for a food services employee, for all you gaming cafeteria ladies out there.

If I recall correctly, Valve and scientists have a history of badassery together.

Hey, why not give it a shot? Instead of running tests in some sterile lab, you might participate in designing new situations for GLaDOS to... run tests in some sterile lab, I guess. But a virtual one!

Maybe Valve's parents just didn't love them enough. Or maybe they loved them a little *too* much.

The psychologist isn't there to make the game "compelling" in a way anybody would notice. They will be there to make the game subtly draw you in by playing off the intricacies in human psychology and addictive behavior patterns.

Not true. There is more to psychology then addictive behavior patterns and intricacies. How about call them with a job offer and ask what specialization they wish to hire.

I didn't say that's all there was to psychology. However you also didn't provide any other reason a game company would hire a psychologist. The job solicitation says what specialization they are looking for.

Not to rain on peoples' parade you need more than a "psych degree" to be a psychologist. So if you have a doctorate in psychology and potentially any necessary liscences and love to play video games, then opportunity might be knocking right now.

The food services employees are the hardest worked at Valve.

    "Mr. Weapon's Guy - DIAGNOSIS

The patient has dependency issues on a woman he refers to as "Sasha". Violently opposes the idea of her being anywhere without him. Patient copes with his problems through excessive eating. Patient also suffers from excessive paranoia, claiming all the medics in the hospital are spies. This is most likely due to his Russian background and possible former work in the KGB, whom he states he "keeled many cowards" with.
