Nintendo fans hoping for a Wii price drop to perhaps take some of the sting out of a recently announced North American Smash Bros. Brawl delay are out of luck.

In an interview with Reuters Thursday, outgoing Nintendo senior vice president of marketing George Harrison said his company is standing firm by the Wii's $249 U.S. price point. Harrison added that the price would remain static for the foreseeable future.

"We'll stay at $249 for the foreseeable future. We are still selling everything we can make," Harrison said.

In related news, Sony and Microsoft have both announced price cuts on their respective systems over the past few months. In August, Microsoft announced a $50 cut on its Xbox Premium model to $350, and dropped the so-to-be discontinued Core model to $279. Sony followed suit this month with a $400, feature-cut PlayStation 3 for Japan and Europe.
