FEATURED VOXPOP oblivion437 Update: I was unfortunately not aware of Shamus Young's severe criticism of Fallout 3 available here to link in the original piece and I regret that.  It dovetails rather nicely with what I've written and it's much better executed than my piece.  I strongly recommend anyone...

Watch Dogs, The Crew Delayed To 2014

Posted on Tuesday, October 15 @ 09:47:55 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Ubisoft has announced that both Watch Dogs and The Crew have been delayed outside of the publisher's current fiscal year. This means we won't be seeing either game until April 1st, 2014 at the very earliest.

Ubi explained the reason behind Watch Dogs' delay in a post on its official blog:

Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we’ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014.

We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now? We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.

Are you bummed out, disappointed, and/or frustrated by this news? To be perfectly honest, I'm all for the delay if it means we'll get a finer product in the long run. From what we've seen thus far, it's a hugely ambitious game, so a bit more time to clean things up is understandable.

Still... Spring 2014 seems like a long ways away.
