Watch Wii U's First TV Commericial... And Snicker

Posted on Monday, October 22 @ 12:26:36 Eastern by

Posted above is the first Wii U TV commercial... in Britain.

You would think they would proofread some of the words that were flung across the screen, like that "a" missing between "with" and "brand". And the sound effects accompanying the ninja star make me want me to fling one into the narrator.

And what's up with all the bullet points? It's not like a Powerpoint presentation. And if that girlfriend was truly hot, she would actually join in the fun, or at least that's what I hope the Wii U is all about.

I'm also not sure about point #4, which to me sounds like "oh, I like being distracted when I game".

Anyway, what are your thoughts on the commercial?

If they wanted to make me run out and get a Wii U, they have failed with such epicness that epic fails to descirbe the epicness in which they failed. They should bring the creepy japanese guys that invaded people's homes with the Wii. I still wouldn't buy one, but it'd less cheesy than that.

It's possible to be positive about the Wii U. Just not for this commercial.

You're going to have to add the http and all that jazz yourself. That article I just linked to is very positive. This one, and others are not.

It's not that we're biased, we're just honest. When something is good, we say it is. When something sucks, we crack jokes about it.

I'm buying a Wii U. But not because of this commercial.

The only reason the Wii U is getting as much hate is because its a shitty next-gen console. The next Xbox will get the same ****ing **** when we all find out it uses windows 8 etc... Then we will all ****ing hate the next Playstation when we find out it has magic glowing ***** controllers. Get over it. Ohh and I have all the consoles too, except I ****ing hate them all.

GR is just honest like everyone is saying. The Wii didn't revolutionize anything, it just created an overused under developed motion control device. In fact, Razer has made the best motion control device and that's on a freaking PC. 80% of people I talk to aren't excited about the WiiU and/or are going to wait 1-2 years or more before buying one. I just had a friend buy a Wii for the first time yesterday because he was waiting to see how it did, pretty much failed software wise like the GameCube. A handful of super solid games and that's about it.

I agree with Nick and Anthony, this commercial is a train wreck. "I want to watch TV now"? That's not usually how those TV sharing arguments tend to go.

This commercial has convinced me to never touch a Wii U. Also, I want to see the full Brad Pitt commercial. I'm interested to see what they got him selling.

Well, to be fair, it did push a lot of info. That said, it does seem pretty low-rent. Maybe it's an "across the pond" thing we yanks don't get.

The ad is light-hearted and silly, but it's not really THAT bad.

The commercial would have been better, if they just showing off MORE of the launch titles for the Wii-U, and done way less of the comedy. That would get people interested in the software they can buy for the console at, or shortly after, launch.
