Wii U Control Pad Updated, Will Control Your TV Too

Posted on Sunday, June 3 @ 15:12:30 Eastern by

In addition to showing off the updated rear and control sticks on the Wii U (see above), Nintendo revealed today that the Wii U Control Pad would also support the controls for your TV as an infrared remote control.

In today's Nintendo Direct, Bossman Satoru Iwata revealed the new functionality ahead of Nintendo's E3 press conference on Tuesday. The controller will also support stylus and touch controls and comes complete with an accelerometer and gryosensor.

We'll have more as the presentation continues. Don't forget to check out all of our E3 coverage at our tag page.

Touch and stylus ftw. Also, still diggin' the stick placements. I hope that lives up to my expectations.

I can't tell you how comfortable it is. The controller seems to have squashed out a little bit, more like a kindle screen than an iPad screen now.

As much **** is packed on there, it was just the right weight and very easy on the hands. I have huge hands but I think people will like it.

If I can change the video source, without having to find the ****ing TV remote that I never use because of satellite or cable, then I welcome the feature.

If only it will control all the rest of my devices also, I could really simplify my "remote pile".
