Will Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Live On At Spark Unlimited?

Posted on Thursday, February 9 @ 07:45:00 Eastern by danielrbischoff

The intrepid minds at PlayStation LifeStyle have deduced that something is afoot at Spark Unlimited, former developers of Legendary, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, and Call of Duty: Finest Hour. While Star Wars: Battlefront 1 and 2 were developed at Pandemic Studios, that developer has been shuttered.

A job opening at Spark Unlimited details the need for "a 3rd Person Action/Adventure sequel in a high-profile science fiction franchise currently greenlit for full production development for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC markets." PSLS also dug up a Spark employee's LinkedIn profile that describes a sword-fighting game for a well-known IP and another that lists a AAA third-person shooter that's been in development for three years.

That's quite a few puzzle pieces, but we're going to side with our fanboy friends. Anyone else ready to hop back on the Star Wars themed battlefield. Either way, a public announcement is incoming.

I've been waiting for SW:BF3 for years, but I cringe when I think of Spark being at the helm, mostly because I still remember how woefully deficient "Turning Point" was in shooting fundamentals. No way will I not at least give this a chance, though, if it turns out to be real.

Was a huge fan of the first two Battlefront games and would love to see a new one. It seems like quite a few of my favourite PS2 classics are being given the sequel treatment at the moment, what with this rumour and the new SSX, all i say is fingers crossed for TImeSplitters 4!

It was as if a million voices cried out, "Finally!" and then were suddenly silenced...

I would suggest Spark Unlimited change their name.

This doesn't excite me at all. The games they produce are mediocre.

I will wait and see. I want a new Battlefront soooo bad, i mean BF2 came out way back in 2005. Hopefully if its true it will be good, but i have never heard of Spark and all this talk about them sucking worries me.

Wanna learn about them? Go to your local Gamestop's bargain bin. Shouldn't be more than $9 for each of their games.

SW Battlefront 2 spent more time in my PS2 than just about any other single game. Can't wait for this! Think of how much better online play will be this generation! Let's just hope it's not a crappy handheld version.
