Worms Revolution Announced For PC And Consoles

Posted on Friday, March 30 @ 08:32:17 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack

Veteran game development studio Team 17 have announced a new entry into the long-crawling Worms series. Titled Worms Revolution, the game will feature a brand-new engine and while it will pay homage to many of the previous titles, Team 17 promises new weapons and features to enjoy with your pals.

A trailer was released along with the announcement which can be seen below.

The most important thing to note from the trailer is Worms Revolution will be played on a 2D platform. This is a bit surprising since we haven't seen a new Worms game in 3D since 2005. However, you may have noticed that some of the modeling is rendered in 3D. It has a bit of that Street Fighter IV and Mortal Kombat flair where the setting is in 2D but many of the visuals are 3D. Whatever the case is for this, it won't really matter as long as the game is fun to play with friends, because that's where Worms does best.

Worms Revolution is scheduled for a release in Q3 2012 for the PC and console platforms. Which consoles will receive the title is presently unknown.
