Xbox 360 The Best Selling Console Of November In U.S., "Nearly 2x All Other Consoles"

Posted on Friday, December 7 @ 08:24:02 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

Despite the fact that the Wii U launched just a few weeks ago, Microsoft's gaming console managed to outsell the competition in the U.S. by a fair margin.

According to Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg (on Twitter), NPD reports indicate that the Xbox 360 managed to sell a whopping 1.26 million consoles in the month of November, which is not only more than Wii and Wii U sales combined, it's also "nearly 2x all other consoles."

That is quite a feat if I do say so myself.

It's no secret that the Xbox 360 is the preferred choice among gamers in the U.S., but why is that? Is it the strong social community built into Xbox Live? Is it the selling power of exclusive franchises like Halo and Gears of War? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

The games. With huge titles being released in the holiday shopping season, everyone and their dog is going to run out and buy the console just to be able to play that new hit game everyone's talking about.

I think the biggest factor is that most people are on their third or fourth 360. My first three melted in warranty, fourth time, I was **** out of luck. I guess that's the best way to drive console sales, design it to fail.

I like my online gaming to be secure and stable... also like being able to play games without downloading updates everytime I stick a disc in.

I feel the price of the "entertainment system." is what really made the differences. Its online is secure and stable like spartan317 mentioned which goes great with the price. The price of the system is what, between the Wii U and PS3? Also, I feel PS3 users finally decided to buy and Xbox 360, since I was able to afford a PS3.

With sales figures like those, why bother releasing a new console?

In my eyes the 360 has won this generation. Not in terms of console sales, but quality. The dashboard alone turned from some pretty bland blades to a whole entertainment experience. Microsoft has the best games library mainly because they got in the gate a year early. They have the best exclusives, and the highest quality exclusives.

    For $99USD it's no surprise.
