LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

I wasn't allowed to talk about the new Infinity Ward game last week when I met with Activision, and I don't have much to say now that Xbox One spilled the beans.

Xbox 'Next' Aiming for 2013 E3 Debut, Q4 2013 Launch

Posted on Thursday, October 20 @ 09:53:38 Eastern by

Last week some information surfaced that a next-gen Xbox was in development. Today, a new report is saying that the console will be ready for an E3 2013 debut and could launch as early as Fall 2013. Develop cites "multiple sources from around the industry, from processor chip manufacturers to middleware firms" for the information.

In the report, the next generation Xbox is referred to as the "Xbox Next". Develop also states that Lionhead Studios is working on a game known internally as Fable Next, adding credence to the Xbox Next name.

"Xbox Next" is most likely only a working title for the project and the name will change for launch, much like Project Natal eventually launched as Kinect.

With information beginning to trickle out on an Xbox 360 successor and the PS4, it's clear that the next generation of consoles is coming within the next 2-3 years.

May I suggest that when they reach the Xbox 1080 they remake 1080 Snowboarding for it?

Me: So, what is the new Xbox called?
    MS: Xbox Next.
    Me: Next?
    MS: That’s right.
    Me: What’s right?
    MS: Next.
Me: Wait, you didn’t answer my question.
    MS: Yes we did. Next.
Me: Hold on a minute, your going to answer my question.
    MS: Security.

really? 2013? cant we get 2014? I hate it when a company goes "Hey, look at this system, oh btw, its coming out in half a year" which sucks. I want more suspense.

anyway. I'm not getting rid of my 360 unless the NeXt has 100% backwards compatability all the way to original xbox, and I can DL every single XBLA Game onto it. I also want my damn acheivements to stick.

Very unlikely they will do that. Game consoles need to be able to move ahead without every console release catering to old games that a diminishing number of people will be playing in the future.

If they drop PS3 to $99, drop 360 to $99, and make live gold for 360 free...then please bring on the next Gen I can see at least 5 more years of use for my PS3 and we haven't even reached that pivotal "Snake Eater" point where the max potential for a console becomes routinely displayed in its titles

That's almost as bad as Wii U.

Also, I'm pretty sure the PS4 will have an actual name. Kinda like Vita. Instead of PSP2, which is super cookie cutter. (3DS, hint hint)
    2015 at the latest please.

Originally, I thought this was an announcement and not just speculation. I had that "And so it begins" feeling. Felt weird.

No, nothing is almost as bad as WiiU for a console name.
