Yoshi-Centric Game Confirmed For Wii U

Posted on Wednesday, January 23 @ 10:25:42 Eastern by Alex_Osborn

The torrent of Nintendo news continues with confirmation that a Yoshi game is currently in the works for Wii U.

Announced during today's Nintendo Direct, this new title featuring the iconic green dinosaur will be developed by the same team behind Kirby's Epic Yarn. As such, the game sports a very whimsical visual style as well as a protagonist made completely out of yarn.

Nintendo has yet to confirm the actual name of the game (we'll just call it Yarn Yoshi for now, cool?) as well as how it will actually play, but judging by the tiny bit of footage available, it looks like a traditional 2D platformer. The game will be supervised by Takashi Tezuka, the director behind both Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story.

Stay tuned to GameRevolution for more info on this exciting new title in the weeks and months to come.

I actually really liked yoshis island. I always remember there is a song in it that sounds like "Its a Aaaaple" but as a kid it always sounded like "Its a asshooole"

I know some people say Yoshi's Story is boring and not a -good- game, but I loved it.

Why he gotta be BLACK Yoshi? Why can't he just be Yoshi, and other Yoshi be Green Yoshi?!?

Obligatory I'm kidding, although I'm sure I'll get thumbs downed.

I wonder what's making Nintendo talk about all these games they got planned all of a sudden.

Lack of solid games thus far and waning interest in the brand new console?

Maybe, but even this is odd for Nintendo to announce a Zelda HD remake, a new Zelda, a new Yoshi game, a new Smash Bros, a new Mario platformer, and a new Mario Kart all in the span of a weekend.

Sounds like a great way to reignite interest/convince non-buyers to become buyers, like myself.
