Zen Studios Announces Kickbeat For Vita

Posted on Wednesday, May 23 @ 12:38:41 Eastern by Keri_Honea

Zen Studios announced
today that they will be giving Zen Pinball a bit of a rest for a new rhythm game they have in store for the Vita, called Kickbeat.

“Several years ago, we asked ourselves, 'What would happen if we took a beat-matching game,  replaced the abstract cues like bars, arrows, and button icons with kung fu fight scenes, and set it all to some incredibly intense music?'” said Neil Sorens, Creative Director for Zen Studios. "We spent three years turning that idea into in KickBeat, and anyone looking for something fresh and exciting and the music genre is in for a treat."

And if you're curious, there is a story behind Kickbeat that seems to be a teensy bit deeper than your normal fighting game, but not much beyond Patapon

"Our story revolves around a lovestruck and unlikely hero drawn into a battle for control of the world’s music. It’s lighthearted fare, but we’ve done a bunch of hand drawn and fully voiced sequences that really bring the characters to life," explained Sorens.

Kickbeat is due out this summer, and it will be playable at E3. You can bet the GR team will get their hands on it on the showroom floor.
