Grand Theft Auto: Double Pack

We couldn't bring ourselves to give the GTA Double Pack a normal Best of the Year award since the two games included already won past Best of the Year awards. But we know a steal when we commit, er, see it, and there has perhaps never been a deal as truly "grand" as this one. Two 'A' games for the price of one? Nice call, Rockstar.

NBA Street Vol. 2

EA Sports did a crack job this year with some serious winners, but they also crowded the floor by releasing so many solid sports games. NBA Street Vol. 2 might not be as complete a game as Tiger Woods or Madden, but it's still the b-ball game to beat. And no, it isn't the shoes.

Tron 2.0

We're suckers for anything old and geeky, since we ourselves are old and geeky. Tron 2.0 captured the essence of a geek classic while simultaneously offering a gorgeous and surprisingly deep first-person shooter, a combination as enticing to gamers as binary to coders. See? Told you we were geeky.

Eve Online

In a relatively uninspired year for massively multiplayer gaming, Eve stands out as the biggest little game you never played. Massive scope and some of the prettiest graphics anywhere turned us into space pirates overnight, but man, it wasn't easy. Arrr!
