FEATURED VOXPOP oblivion437 Update: I was unfortunately not aware of Shamus Young's severe criticism of Fallout 3 available here to link in the original piece and I regret that.  It dovetails rather nicely with what I've written and it's much better executed than my piece.  I strongly recommend anyone...

What do these ratings mean?

Sit back and be dazzled.

How exciting! It’s April and spring is upon us. Baseball season recently started, the NBA and NHL are about to begin their playoff runs, and the PGA Masters just crowned a new green jacket owner. All is good in the world of athletics: What else could a sports lover need? Well, the best sport of them all, of course, none other than some gridiron! That’s right football! Or what Bobby Boucher’s momma likes to call “foosball” and the devil.

Though we’re a few months away from any meaningful games of football, we can still get excited about what’s there to come. NCAA Football 14 hopes to bring new and fresh ideas to the field that will keep fans interested. So far, much of what has been updated is the look and feel of the game. Features like commentary are crisp and original... mmm, chicken... throw some potatoes in and 14 is really cookin’. Announcers like Brad Nessler and Kirk Herbstreit will do play by play as if they were commentating a real contest. They will also loosen up the ties a bit and throw in goofy quips you wouldn’t necessarily normally hear from a professional broadcast team.

Also updated, Infinity Engine 2 will be used in this year’s design. Those familiar with Infinity Engine will recognize the similarities to EA’s other major football franchise Madden. Interaction with opponents, teammates, and weather conditions look solid thus far. They've also revamped the close-contact physics, namely those huge hits. Hitstick and well-timed stiff arms will be your best friends, and they look

Details, details, detailsthe little things always matter and NCAA Football 14 seems to be focusing on those slight particulars, tiny adjustments such as runners now hard-cutting rather than constantly swerving. So don’t worry, momma, were not gonna lose all our fancy foosball games once this one hits stores later in the year for Xbox 360, PS3, and likely other platforms.
