Everybody went out and got it. Tons of people stood in line in the middle of the night to get it. Millions are still playing it, as we speak. Yes, obviously I'm talking about Call of Duty. I, like so many others, went out and got this game. Although, I was intelligent about it, or so I thought. Maybe the others were just foolish. Why do I bother?

I made this fantastic design for a t-shirt contest for the academy of information technology at my school. Then some stupid douche muncher from the district destroyed the server and removed my entry from the contest. When the server came back up, and the web master announced that everyone that had their entries removed could re-post them, I had the mother****ing swine flu, so I had no idea we could re-post them and my design won't be considered for the contest.

This is why I play games most of the time. I'm playing some damned Modern Warfare 2 tomorrow and not paying attention to anything else that will inevitably just anally rape me no matter how much effort I put into it.

Video games is such a diverse medium that it is somewhat easy to forget that differing opinions, however alien they may be to your own, are welcome for a critical debate. Recently, a forum user named Melaisis posted a rather interesting article titled “Games Are Not Art.” I won’t go into much detail here, but suffice to say, Melaisis gives the theory that due to the inaccessibility of certain games by the general public, games cannot, all things considered, be art in the sense that we may know it, due to either sheer difficulty or blandness of the gaming experience. Most people will never see the cinematic or artistic aspects that would make a game art just because it is not accessible to them.

a note of regret

over the weekend I put off doing any work for school, most of which is all due this week or next, bailed on a date with a chick who was gagging for some lovin, and just generally neglected to care about any responsibilities i have. i couldn’t do any thing but play uncharted 2. dont get me wrong, i enjoyed it, but now i’ve got 12,000 words to write as well as trying to smooth things over with this girl this afternoon, basically i regret it now and i don’t remember ever regretting playing a game before, maybe im getting too old, 23 next month.

Taking my money without asking

So I have never been one for pay-as-you-play games. The concept has kind of missed me. However, when I played the trial subscription to the highly-to-annoyingly complicated Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game EVE Online I started to get it: this game requires constant maintenance, and therefore needs a constant flow of cash into the system. So, after getting hooked, I naturally purchased a three month subscription for $39.00.

It seemed like a deal to me. I played it frequently, therefore paying a little more than ten dollars a month did not seem like too much of a waste. So for about a month and a half I was a satisfied EVE player (customer?).

The last large scale war between the three manufacturers ended in a somewhat bland format. In sheer numbers the second generation Playstation won the contest, and for the most part, lead the way in overall gaming experience. Unfortunately, my Xbox 360 has fallen prey to the infamous Red Ring of Death. After one hour's crying and two days of comforting vanilla ice-cream, I've returned to my senses and decided I should let any prospective readers know the score on my missing two-week review.
