The A.I. is really crappy, but is better than the other Maddens. Great graphics for the game, it makes you feel like your watching a real game. Whats new about the game is the gang tackling, which was not on the other ones. Cobra had a point on the players, you cant get a 90 speed running back with a 55speed lineman. With that ill have to rate this game an A-. http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/xbox360/madden-nfl-09/rampagejor Left 4 Dead 2 - Xbox360 - rampagejor http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/xbox360/left-4-dead-2 Left 4 dead 2 has more levels, guns, blunt objects, and zombies. The A.I. for the game is really good. Very scary, and many different kinds of random events. The producer gives you enough hull time to reload, and situate before facing the hoard. My prospect of the game, i thought, was just like the old one. http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/xbox360/left-4-dead-2/rampagejor Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - PS3 - damo_rox619 http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/ps3/uncharted-2-among-thieves
This year has been an epic year for video games. Last year, the only games that really caught my eye were metal gear solid 4 (i am a fan of the series) and dead space, even grand theft auto IV didn't do it for me. But there were obviously big expectations for the gaming world this year. Resident evil 5, Killzone 2, Assassin's creed 2, Modern warfare 2 (especially) and of course, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

I can honestly say that RE5 was great even though it didn't exactly succeed over RE4. Killzone 2 i did not enjoy one bit and inFamous was slightly enjoyable but only a hiree at best. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was the first PS3 game i owned (alongside the dreadful Motorstorm) and i could instantly see was going to be one of the greatest series of the generation. Despite the fact that it was the first game of this generation i'd played, i think it deserves to be seen as even more than that. and this is coming from someone with 18 xbox 360 games and 10 PS3 games. I was hoping for so many things to go right with Among Thieves and didn't expect many of them to come true, i.e better graphics, longer story, some kind of multiplayer or co-op mode, and to be at least a little more appreiciated than the surprisingly unheard of Uncharted 1.

But when i saw the wildly early review from IGN.com (around 15-20 days before the games release) i couldn't believe what i'd read. A 9.5 out of 10 and claiming that "Among Thieves is not perfect, but it's as close as you'll get from any game these days", and seeing the x-play review: "There are only so many good things i can say in the short time i'm given, but you can quote me on this one. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the best single player experince i have ever played". Until someone drops a bigger gun.

Split-screen multiplayer is dying. Unfortunate, but true. Nowadays, if you want to get a game going with your mates, either you have to be online so that Microsoft knows you're not ripping people off, LAN'ing your brains out using either cables that just don't seem to be long enough, or lag-inducing wireless connections, or have to play 'Hot Potato' with the controller in a 'pass the controls when you die' scenario. The 360 has 4-controller support for a reason, guys!

Fortunately, although it may be dying, split-screen ain't dead yet, thanks to Borderlands. It also doesn't hurt that the game is damn awesome, either.

Borderlands follows the story of 4 Vault Hunters, searching fo the 'Vault' (big shock there) on a planet called Pandora. You play as one of those 4. Nothing else to it really. Your character is not driven by any complex emotions, lost loved ones or even 'because-they-told-me-to' military orders. No, they're just driven by their incessant need for shiny, shiny objects, to a place where they've been told has more than it's fair share of shiny, shiny objects.

Like guns. Lots, and lots of guns. Now, I've never played Diablo, but from what I've heard about it's random-weapon-generator for item drops, Borderlands has a similar thing for guns. I doubt this review in any way, shape or form, actually sway the 4 plus million people who bought, played, and are currently fragging it out online like the grenade spammers they are on “Modern Warfare 2.” And I seriously doubt I will even get good reviews or recommendations for this following review, but to that, I say, oh well.
\r\n
Why this preface? Because “Modern Warfare 2” is a game I wanted so bad to hate, and while it is FAR from an A game, like Activisions near perfect hype machine would lead to believe, it is at least a good, solid and entertaining ride, for a bit. Like a shiny new Rollercoaster at Six Flags, it’s flashy, bright, polished and fun, but only for a few minutes until it ends, leading to a feeling of emptiness and dissatisfaction. A thrill ride with gimmicky thrills, essentially.
\r\n
Still not convinced? Well, lets break down the package as a whole. Infinity Ward has a knack for doing a lot of things right in most of their games, as any Call of Duty up until this point, has shown. The problem this time around is that “Modern Warfare 2” feels like it had to one-up itself after the last time, and improve on the perfection that made up their game, the multi-player aspect. And in effect, it is still fun to play. It is great to level up and it is nice to see a variety of new bells and whistles added to the content, such as custom kill streaks, new possible classes with weapon upgrades, and other options that tweak the overall experience online.
\r\n
But it is still the same mode.
\r\n
Yeah, you heard me right. The game really, really reached hard to try and one up itself again and again, but by the time I got to the White house battle, I was getting bored.
\r\n
This game is all about the Multiplayer and I\'m dissapointed to say that the first game\'s was better although this game definitely packs more content.
\r\n
Maps are incredibly huge, and incredibly detailed. The AIRPORT map definitely takes the cake with a huge terminal and an airplane to get on and snipe from. Unfortunately all of these maps have been DESTROYED by this game\'s development team to take away every possible cover you could have. Just when you think you have backed into a corner, you turn around to realize there is a huge open space behind you - with enemies closing in. Just when you thought you\'d found a great sniper nest, you get shot or blown up. There are roughly 3 to 4 entrances to every sincle position. That\'s REALLY ANNOYING. This time around, bullets pass through walls like they are looseleaf paper. If you get spotted YOU ARE DEAD. AND YOU WILL BE SPOTTED.
\r\n
#1 What\'s the point of being a sniper in a Ghillie suit if you are easy to spot? For a game that wants to make itself feel realistic, going out of its way to make everyone notice you seems...wrong.
\r\n
If you kill someone, the killcam (which you can\'t turn off) lets them know exactly where you are. Add to that, the game spawns them less than 20 meters from you and even points them in your direction. ... http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/pc/modern-warfare-2/BigTruckSeries Diablo - PC - DAllen http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/pc/diablo
An adventure from the cathedral to Hell

This game is set in a town and is battling between Heaven and Hell. In the game you play as Warrior, Sorcerer, and Rogue. This is a great RPG game especially for those who enjoy computer games, and is also fans of RPG games. The bosses you fight along the way are The butcher, Zhar the mad, and alot others. The very last boss in the game is Lord Of Terror. This game would absolutely recieve an A as a result of good graphics, storyline isn't out of line, great characters, beastly creatures, nice arsenal of weaponry, and dark toned music for the levels. After this game it was followed by Diablo 2, and Diablo 3. This game is the bomb and if you like monsters, and dungeons, play it.
http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/pc/diablo/DAllen Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars - PSP - Ivory_Soul http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/psp/gta-chinatown-wars The Good: Looks amazing, new additions are welcomed, smooth controls

The Bad: Short, no voice acting

Awww...good 'ol GTA on the PSP once again. We had two great outings so far with Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories which were you're standard traditional GTA games that were executed almost flawlessly. Chinatown Wars is a great treat because it is not a "mini" version of past console GTA games, but the first top down GTA game since GTA2, but this time it doesn't suck.

There are a lot of new elements in Wars, but we'll get to that eventually. You play as a Chinese guy (instead of all those Italians and that one black guy...) named Huang who is supposed to deliver a sword to his dead dad's boss so his uncle can become the new leader of the triad. It turns out the sword gets stolen and you are on a wild goose chase to find it. Like previous GTA games this one's story has great plot twists all the way to the very last mission and it will keep you playing for hours. Since this was a port from the DS there is no voice acting, but drawn panels with written dialogue which is just fine for this type of game.

If you're thinking top down GTA hinders game play you're dead wrong. The controls are so smooth and easy to use. Unfortunately, lock on targeting is still an issue, but everything you love in a GTA game is here plus some. You can sprint, jump, shoot, toss grenades all in you're criminally intent glory. Controlling the cars in this game is sweet and smooth (unlike GTA4) and they turn without a fuss. You can shoot from your car, or pretty much anywhere.

The GPS system is similar to GTA4's with the lines telling you the best route to your destination, and ... http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/psp/gta-chinatown-wars/Ivory_Soul Dead Or Alive 4 - Xbox360 - Tyrranis http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/xbox360/dead-or-alive-4 But, mostly dead.

Ah, the brawler. No matter who you are, where you are there's something cathartic about beating the living daylights out of another human being using nothing but your fists, a sword or perhaps even a poolcue. No matter what, fighting games will be around, be they of the brawler variety, or of the standard fighting game kind.

Dead or Alive 4 is hardly going to be confused for a brawler, but it may be confused for a good game, given the natural... assets on display.

The premise behind the game is that Helena, the opera singer from previous installments, is now the head of DOATEC, a company whom has been doing some pretty nasty things involving the ninja-runaway Kasumi's DNA. Helena organises the 4th Dead or Alive tournament for some reason, and people show up to fight.

Yeah, it's not exactly an award-winning plot.

The premise of the game is simple. You pick a fighter, the AI (or the other player) picks a fighter, you fight, and if you're fighting the AI, you lose, get more frustrated and fight again. There are several moves you can pull off, with a Practice mode included just so that you can see what they look like when the AI doesn't counter-throw them all the time, unlike in the story mode.

In Story mode, you pick a character, fight the AI, lose, restart, fight, lose, restart, etc. until you win and move onto the next enemy, lose to them, restart that fight, lose again, etc. Although for the most part the story AI isn't that challenging, I found myself repeating quite a few fights because they kept counter-throwing my blows, ... http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/xbox360/dead-or-alive-4/Tyrranis Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Xbox360 - LinksOcarina http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/xbox360/call-of-duty-4 With throngs of bros and fanboys rushing to get the latest kill simulator known as “Modern Warfare 2” from their local shopkeeps, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about the original that started this craze, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.” A game that everyone heralded to be so good that it blew Halo out of the water in terms of FPS dominance, and thanks to a billion dollar marketing campaign, it would have you believe in that hype (and is trying to do it again, mind you.)rnrnrnrn\r\n
And in truth, it is pretty good. A well executed game that delivers a lot of fun, with the multi-player at least. Yes, like “Halo” itself, Modern Warfare is something of a clone with add-ons that, while really fun to partake in, suffers from the weight of its mediocrity at points. The biggest problem is that the game lacks any real GOOD single player game. The second biggest problem is that the multi-player game is so well made; it turns into the shield for any criticism about it.
\r\n
But let’s not throw it out just yet. The game has you star primarily as “Soap” McTavish, the poorly named new recruit to the British Special Forces, kind of the Green Berets of the Isles, led by Lemmy’s cousin, Captain Price. Price is as stereotypical as they get, and this is also a foreshadowing for later, since the game pretty much goes from cockney Brits to gun toting Americans with bazookas for crotches to a Black Marine who performs hip-hop. It’s good to see that Infinity Ward is above stereotypes.
\r\n
But the point of the single player campaign is to take control of McTavish and a few other characters, including Price himself, through missions that involve a terrorist plot against an unnamed Middle Eastern Country that does not resemble Iraq in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM, and Russia, because we all know the Cold War is still going on. Called “Battle Fantasia” and produced by Aksys games and developed by Arc system works, I got excited by the prospects of what I uncovered. A 3-D fighting game on a 2-D plane, with great influence in fantasy and steampunk elements, makes for an interesting experience to say the least, so I took a gamble on something new.

When the dust was settled, and I exhausted my time with it, I was torn though, by how I felt about the game. “Battle Fantasia” feels like an incomplete experience, one that has a lot of potential, but only if it was given times to reach it through some tweaks in the gameplay.

While versus fighter games always have piss poor plot points, “Battle Fantasia” actually has a really fleshed out world, and the characters you control actually grow and offer great adventures this time. It also helps that a lot of the storylines are individual to the current character you’re playing as, something Arc system works built upon with “BlazBlue.” Here though, the stories are not only coherent, but some of them are downright touching. Sure others serve as comic foils to fill out their respected characters, but overall, I was actually impressed with the tales yarned here.

Sadly, the storylines could not save the game from a few problems that detriment the experience. The controls are extremely sluggish, especially on a normal 360 controller, which leads to a lot of slowdown when fighting opponents. This also leads to leaving yourself open to attacks as you try to perform limited combos with the characters move sets. There is a blocking system , but it seems hit ... http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/xbox360/battle-fantasia/LinksOcarina BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger - Xbox360 - LinksOcarina http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/xbox360/blazblue-calamity-trigger
Versus fighters seem to come in few flavors now a days. Most have adopted into a 3-D landscape, yet few have been able to achieve the success of Soul Calibur in that regard. Others have gone 3-D in graphics but 2-D in playing field, similar to Street Fighter IV. Thankfully, Arc System Works, the developers behind great games like “Guilty Gear, “ have added a new member into the genre, known as “BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger.”

“Blazblue” is one of the rare 2-D fighting games to into full H-D graphics and not become redundant or poor in it’s quality, as other, more fabled franchises such as “King of Fighters” have attempted, and failed to do. Featuring crisp animation oozing with style and showcasing some adequate substance, “Blazblue” is not a genre- reviver, but it definitely keeps 2-D fighting games alive and well against their 3-D counterparts.

One of the reasons is thanks to a well developed fighting system. Emulated off of “Guilty Gear” in many respects, the fast paced action thanks to hard hitting combos and unique special attacks lead to great strategies when using one of the twelve fighters featured in the game. And surprisingly, all of the fighters are remarkably balanced. Take for example, the character Iron Tager. He is the typical “hulk” character, slow but powerful. He also has moves that magnetize opponents to him, which can be used to not only draw enemies close, but to keep them close so he can pummel them to the dust. Conversely, Taokakka, the small, absent-minded feline like character, is fast and furious, offering high flying combos and great duck maneuvers that allow her to get under, or over, characters special moves if done ... http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/xbox360/blazblue-calamity-trigger/LinksOcarina Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - PS3 - demondayzzz http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/ps3/call-of-duty-4 The Good:
+ Has combat effects spot on (gunfire noise/bullet effects when they hit the target/shooting through enemies' cover/etc.)
+ Immersive story, despite being incredibly far-fetched is still fairly well written, dramatic moments, a good dose of morality (or lack of), a good deal of variety in the missions- a sneaking sniper mission in Chernobyl, a night-time mission from an AC Gunship, hostage rescue, defending a town etc. and the usual squad combat.
+ Levels are quite well made and realistic
+ One of the best FPS ever, I don't think Call of Duty should ever make WW2 games any more.

The Bad (or not so good):
- No real control over the squad
- The story is way too short
- Death from grenades is far too excessive, these terrorists must have been cricket pros or something before
- Perhaps too many bad guys who just take up the same spot their buddy died in and wait for their turn
- Besides the special missions, there isn't that much replay value in the campaign (for me anyway)
- Inexcusable cruelty to dogs
- Perhaps too immersive, I felt rushed and for example didn't really get a chance to try out all the guns because trading the default weapon for it didn't seem worth it because of lack of ammo availabe etc.
- (spoilers*) Your squad is useless, they make you do everything from taking on tanks to stopping nuke countdowns and tons of stuff you'd expect some help with in real life. Also when your idiot Lt. or Captain or whatever breaks his leg in the Chernobyl level you'd expect him to say something like, "you go on, leave me behind," and heroically cover for you while you escape but instead he says something like "I guess you'll have to carry me." And you do and you fight ... http://www.gamerevolution.com/mreview/ps3/call-of-duty-4/demondayzzz Dead Space Extraction - Wii - Ivory_Soul http://www.gamerevolution.com/member/wii/dead-space-extraction The Good: Creepy immersive atmosphere, lots of weapons, great story telling

The Bad: Repetitive, very hard, may turn Dead Space fans off

Dead Space is a surprising new gaming franchise from EA that was actually original, in depth, a just really amazing. The whole story behind Dead Space is just so surreal thanks to all the different forms of media from movies to books to comic books. Dead Space is about an alien artifact that somehow unleashed a deadly race of aliens onto a planet colony and found its way to the Ishimura which is a planetcracking ship.

Dead Space: Extraction sets itself between the comic books and the first Dead Space game. Think of this as what happened before Isaac Clarke entered the Ishimura. Extraction may intially throw you off guard since it's an "on rails" FPS kind of like old arcade games. This may turn Dead Space fans completely off since you don't have control of exploration. While this does hamper the score a lot there is so much fun and fright to be had in Extraction.

The main focus in Extraction is getting the hell off the Ishimura and finding a shuttle. You play as several characters throughout the game, but your main guy is Nate. He is a P-SEC officer who is working with his sergeant to get as many people to safety as possible. You really only see your reticle to the main focus is to point and shoot. The controls are really great and laid out for both regular use and the Wii Zapper (or any other gun attachment you may have) so I will be reviewing this game off of the Zapper control scheme. You have a lot at your hands besides weapons and this includes your Stasis (slows down objects), and your telekinesis which will pull objects towards you. The feeling of the game is it's strongest point, and ironically, not the acrobatics that the game boasts about. The developers tried to nail the 70's Quintin Tarintino/Wild West feeling and did it perfectly. Everything from buildings to clothing have a bad ass brown dirty scheme to it. There is even an old 70's film reel filter over the screen that adds to the atmosphere. The music is also a big helper in this thanks to its classic indie feeling to it.

But atmosphere isn't anything if the game has bad game play and this game does not. What it does have is unfinished game play that seems rushed. There is a lot of thought behind it, but it seemed quickly tossed together, but also is really shallow. The whole idea of the game play is based on slow motion combat. Yeah I know, we've seen this before in countless game (Max Payne started it all), but to be fair they add a little twist. Whenever your feet leave the ground and you start shooting you enter slow mo mode. In this mode you have a red circle that auto locks onto an enemy then you am your reticle at another. This was executed brilliantly so you don't have to worry about aiming both weapons. You can go into slow mo when you slide on your shins, jump whichever way in the air, shoot from zip lines, poles, ledges; you name it.

Another addition to combat that really felt shallow was the sword play. A simple one, two, three combo and that's it. and you are on this miserable looking planet to open that Vault and obtain those riches. With this they have created an over 20+ hour experience, but it doesn't total the fact that plot is pretty paper thin. Sure the fact that the reason you're on the planet to get to the Vault does not help the fact you're going to forget about the plot about halfway through. You'll do main missions pertaining to the Vault, but most of the time you're going around doing random quests to continue the story. I should clarify that, while I realise that this game has been released for some time now, I nevertheless chose to review it on the grounds that downloadable content is scheduled for release in the near future, including characters such as Juggernaut and Carnage. Yes, I know, very cool- but does it still justify the price of a purchase to future potential buyers?

The premise of the game’s story is, however, highly commendable, and rightly plucked straight from the pages of Marvel comics. and once newer games come out, very few people will be playing this game.
\r\n
Borderlands is in no way as strong as Fallout 3 because Fallout 3 had a deep, immersive single player that was more interesting and allowed for more exploration. Borderlands is divided into much smaller maps that don\'t quite add up to Fallout\'s open ended feel.
\r\n
In fact, Borderlands feels alot like Fallout, but with the focus on First Person Shooting, rather than 3rd person action.
\r\n
The best way to play through the game is to play online with friends, but even then, its best to level up your character BEFORE playing through the singleplayer/coop. This way you\'ll be a higher level than every enemy you fight. Many of the game\'s firefights can be overwhelming and even if you are levels higher than the CPU enemies, their onslaught can kill you quick. If you are right at the same level as the enemy, you\'ll have some very long and frantic firefights but you\'ll most likely be frustrated if you don\'t have buddies playing with you online.
\r\n
Once you\'ve leveled up your first character and played through the gameyou\'ll probably not want to do it again. The ending is WEAK. Its anticlimactic and could have been alot better.
\r\n
The weapons are fun to experiment with but the weapons you\'ll want most are the alien guns which strangely enough do not really do much more damage than their human counterparts. As GR\'s review mentioned, sometimes you\'ll get great new weapons and other times you\'ll just get crap. Sure, like other future titles such as Dead Space, Drake's Fortune borrowed a lot of ideas from other games but made them all work. Not perfectly but it was damn good anyway. While a bit on the short side it was one hell of a ride, it felt like an incredible interactive film, a film that has more passion and impact than many actual films made today.

Developer Naughty Dog finally gives us its sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, allowing players to step into the shoes of explorer and thief Nathan Drake, on yet another adventure of epic proportions. Does Among Thieves have what it takes to surpass the Fortune, or is this fortune one not worth finding?

Among Thieves starts with our main man Nathan "Nate" Drake inside a train, heavily wounded. The carriage he's in, near destroyed and is about to fall off a cliff and it's up to an injured Drake to simply put, get the hell out of there. Once he's out, the game begins to retell the story in the form of a flash back leading up to the events of the train, with Drake in search of what's called the Cintamani Stone. Similar to the first title, Drake's once again up against a big bad foreign bad guy with an evil sounding accent, racing against him to get to the treasure first.

Among Thieves plays similar to the first game but with some improvements.
