State of Play today announced the launch of much awaited “Basebods” multiplayer web game, available at www.basebods.com.

Basebods is a multiplayer Baseball game. Where you can play against your friends, or anyone else in the world, or take on our own specialist teams in the exciting Single Player Challenge.

You’ll be able to build your own awe-inspiring team of “Bods” and customise the way each one looks. Want a Ninja, in shiny white sneakers, using a magic wand as a bat? You got it! You can also buy new parts for your stadium, or a new location (and yes, you can play on the moon if you like) – and then show your friends you’ve got the best looking ballpark in the world!

The game will generate repeated income through online microtransactions, with players allowed to improve their teams and ballparks. Basebods is pioneering this popular business model in the market along with the likes of big players like Electronic Arts.

The interactive game is versatile enough to cater for a complete spectrum of players regardless of background, age or baseball experience and is great to play with the family. The fun and addictive nature of the game is enhanced by the ability for you to compare your performances with your friends and anyone else in the world.

Luke Whittaker, Director of State of Play, who have developed the game, says, “We’re incredibly excited about the launch of Basebods. It’s already got an army of fans on Facebook before it’s even launched, and word is spreading across the web like wildfire at the moment. I think that it will be a completely unique experience for the online casual gaming audience.”
