E3: PC or rather about the lack of it
By Starling

E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

After years of standing in Jak's shadow, Daxter finally gets his turn in the spotlight as he stars in his very own self-titled game . An all-new adventure platformer made exclusively for the PSP™ (PlayStation® Portable) entertainment system, Daxter™ is centered around the world of the lovable orange ottsel made popular in the multi-million-selling Jak and Daxter franchise. As the first title developed by Santa Ana-based Ready At Dawn Studios, Daxter will set the standard for character action games on the PSP. Pushing the popular Jak and Daxter world in new directions through the eyes of Daxter, the title will complete the Jak and Daxter story and allow players to find out how Daxter came to free Jak at the beginning of Jak II ™. A no-compromise platformer with a full-featured moveset, comparable graphic capabilities and incredible animation detail, Daxter takes players on a classic platform game thrill ride.

Daxter takes the Jak and Daxter franchise in a whole new direction, taking place during the two years Daxter searches for Jak, who was imprisoned during the events that led to the start of Jak II ™. Daxter, now on his own in an unfamiliar place, quickly realizes that being small and furry won't help his chances of survival. To help stamp out a mysterious metalbug infestation, Daxter takes on a job as a pest exterminator, enabling him to explore parts of Haven City in an effort to collect the clues that will lead him to Jak. But Daxter will soon discover that he'll get more excitement from his job than he originally bargained for.

Features:

•  Daxter allows gamers to play from his animal perspective, chronicling his back-story during the two years spent alone in Haven City and answering the questions of how he managed to free Jak.

•  A special "Animal" mode allows Daxter to climb walls and creep up on enemies. As Daxter is an ottsel and not a human, players will have a unique moveset with agile abilities, as Daxter can crawl on all fours, fit in small places and maneuver vehicles.

•  One of the first games to offer PSP and PlayStation 2 interoperability, game via USB connection. Gamers can use their PSP to unlock drivers, vehicles and graphics for Jak X: Combat Racing or connect to their PS2 to open up secret features in Daxter .

•  Daxter's swatter and bug spray gun offers unique action mechanics across numerous seamless environments. Utilize the spray gun to hover around in the levels and add another dimension to classic platforming gameplay.

•  The graphical style stays true to the Jak and Daxter universe, as players will get to explore locations unseen in Jak II and Jak 3™ .

•  Players can join Daxter inside his most secret dreams where he finally gets to act out his fantasies of becoming the hero he always has pretended to be. When he falls asleep on the job, players can enter his dreams in special bonus levels and see him act out his ego-driven fantasies showing off his unique attack mechanics.
