REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - January 25, 2006 - Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., today announced The Gradius Collection (working title) for the PSPTM (PlayStation®Portable) system. Delivering value and quality to the handheld system, The Gradius Collection is a compilation of five beloved Gradius titles in one unique game package. Spanning more than 20 years of exciting releases, the collection includes Gradius, Gradius II, Gradius III, Gradius IV, and the never-before-released in the United States, Gradius Gaiden. Delivering the trademark Gradius shooting action to the PSP system for the first time, The Gradius Collection will be available in spring 2006.

"Gradius is one of the most beloved Konami franchises of all time and The Gradius Collection provides fans with five of the most classic games in one exciting release," said Dennis Lee, Group Manager at Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “This title is a dream come true for Gradius fans and a perfect game for the PSP system. Now gamers can enjoy all the non-stop shooting action which Gradius is known for, in a thrilling portable gaming experience."

Taking advantage of the PSP system’s technology, The Gradius Collection offers a Gallery Mode that is full of unique features. This includes the opportunity to view movies from various games in the series, as well as the ability to listen to the pulse-pounding music from each title. Additionally, gamers can choose their own screen orientation, giving them the option to view the game in the original arcade specs or use the full PSP system screen to increase the game viewing area.
