KEY INFORMATION

  • Experience intense Pokémon action in this full-scale role-playing game with nearly 40 hours of game play.
  • A new story line with new characters and experiences: the majestic Lugia has been turned into Shadow Lugia and is acting as if it were a heartless fighting machine. It is the ultimate Shadow Pokémon that supposedly can't be purified.
  • Snag and purify more than 80 Shadow Pokémon, plus meet up with wild Pokémon.
  • The Vs Mode allows players to import all of their Pokémon from Game Boy® Advance games like Pokémon® Ruby, Pokémon® Sapphire, Pokémon® FireRed, Pokémon® LeafGreen and Pokémon® Emerald , and battle with them in full 3-D.

Game Storyline: A familiar legendary Pokémon named Lugia has been turned into a new type of Shadow Pokémon, one that supposedly can't be purified. Using Shadow Lugia, the evil organization Cipher has stolen the Pokémon-carrying cargo ship, the S.S. Libra, to help fulfill its grandiose plan of world domination. Players must save the Shadow Pokémon from a life of evil deeds and thwart Cipher's plans before it's too late. As Michael, a young trainer, players must seek to unravel the mystery behind Shadow Lugia. During the journey they will be helped by numerous friends and fight against even more foes as they race against time to snag and purify the Shadow Pokémon and save the world.

Characters: The hero, Michael, is a young trainer tasked with the monumental undertaking of saving all of the Shadow Pokémon. The majestic Pokémon, Lugia, plays a major role as "Shadow Lugia," the ultimate Shadow Pokémon that supposedly can't be purified. Shadow Lugia also has an exclusive move called "Shadow Blast" that shoots a blade of air. More than 80 Shadow Pokémon are available for players to snag (twice the number in Pokémon Colosseum™ ). A full cast of unique and creative characters guide players on their journeys and try to stop them from saving the world. All 386 Pokémon can be loaded into the game and battled in full 3-D.

How to progress through the game: The player starts off as a young but promising trainer. Things quickly escalate as a cargo ship holding many Pokémon is stolen and rumors surface that a giant Shadow Pokémon is behind the theft. The player is asked to embark on a perilous journey to try and save the Shadow Pokémon using a device called the "Snag Machine." The player uses the Snag Machine to "snag" Shadow Pokémon from the bad trainers and then works to purify them back to their normal state. Once they are purified, they can be leveled-up like normal. The player then uses the newfound Pokémon to battle against various trainers on a quest to stop Cipher from turning all Pokémon into Shadow Pokémon and taking over the world.

Special powers/weapons/moves/features: The Purify Chamber is a new method that can be used to help purify up to nine Pokémon at once. Battle Bingo is a new and very fun (but strategically challenging) mini-game that players can enjoy. It plays much like bingo, but the players must battle against Pokémon to fill in their bingo card squares. There are hundreds of spectacular moves the Pokémon can use during battles. The Battle Sim feature allows players to collect more than 50 Battle CDs, which contain various battle scenarios. They can use these Battle CDs to play out many different Pokémon battle situations to increase their knowledge and abilities.
