E3: PC or rather about the lack of it
By Starling
Posted on 06/15/13
E3 2013 has been very silent for me. There's tons of media, but most of it buzzes past my ears without them catching the important keyword that my ears are fine tuned to receive: "PC" or "Personal Computer". Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft have all shown their cards...

Insomniac Games, creator of the seven million worldwide unit-selling Ratchet & Clank franchise, has developed a new, more dramatic and sophisticated adventure featuring the popular duo in Ratchet: Deadlocked™ . The team's fourth installment in the critically acclaimed series is slated to continue to innovate the series by incorporating co-op gameplay throughout both single-player and multiplayer story modes, as well as squad-based functionality.

STORYLINE

In the latest installment, Ratchet and Clank are captured while investigating the disappearance of several famous heroes. The two discover that the missing heroes (including themselves) have been abducted by a deranged media mogul named Gleeman Vox, who intends to use them as contestants on an underground reality combat show.

It doesn't take Vox long to realize that Ratchet is the most promising contestant the show has ever seen. Vox subjects Ratchet to a series of deadly battles and elaborate games of death, much to the delight of the show's enormous audience. To keep himself and his friends alive, Ratchet has no choice but to participate in the games and keep driving up the show's ratings with spectacular victories – at least until he can figure out a way to break free from Vox's control and the explosive Deadlock collar around his neck.

KEY FEATURES

•  Ratchet: Deadlocked features co-op gameplay both throughout single-player and multiplayer story mode.

•  Squad-based gameplay allows players to demolish the competition by commandeering their allied bots through critical and strategic battles. Each allied bot will have its own distinct personality, and a customization feature allows players to change body parts and textures.

•  A new weapons system provides players the ability to choose the way their weapon powers up (effects capabilities and functionality), allowing for thousands of mod combinations.

•  The game features non-linear gameplay, allowing players to not have to complete levels in chronological order to achieve success.

•  Featuring a new mission-structure approach, players will be rewarded with a constant progression of items such as weapons, armor and health.

•  With much of the combat taking place in battlefields and arenas, gameplay will be more tournament sports-oriented.

•  All single-player levels will also be available to players for the multiplayer game.
