The heart-stopping follow-up to one of the most revered PC games of
all time, Return to Castle Wolfenstein uncovers Hitler's horrifying
obsession with the occult, living dead and genetic mutations. As B.J.
Blazkowicz, an Army Ranger recruited into the Office of Secret Actions
(OSA), players infiltrate the twisted bowels of the Third Reich to battle
horrific super-soldiers, zombies and mutants forged in the unearthly
experiments of Heinrich Himmler. Built on the powerful QUAKE III Arena™
engine, Return to Castle Wolfenstein delivers fast-paced action and
white-knuckle suspense. A frightening, action-packed adventure teeming
with shocking paranormal experiments, nightmarish SS weaponry and bone
chilling encounters with the Fuhrer's unrelenting warriors.
Story Setting:
It's 1943. War rages across the heart of Europe as the Nazi's sinister
plot for global domination eradicates entire nations. The player assumes
the role of B.J. Blazkowicz, an American soldier charged with single-handedly
stopping Nazi research projects that threaten to turn the tide of the
war. In the deepest recesses of Castle Wolfenstein, B.J. uncovers a
dark plot, headed by Nazi general Heinrich Himmler, to raise the dead
and create an army of Nazi "super soldiers." It's up to B.J. alone to
save the world from the nightmarish Nazi threat.
Characters & Enemies:
As a single soldier against the Third Reich, the player must overcome
overwhelming odds. Throngs of the Fuhrer's brainwashed soldiers and
hordes of zombies join forces for the cause of evil and engulf the German
landscape, clawing and firing at the player around every corner. The
game features the most twisted and frightening enemies ever seen in
a PC game, including: Nazi troopers and officers, mutants, X-Creatures,
the undead and priestesses of the Occult.
Locations:
Return to Castle Wolfenstein transports players to Germany, circa 1943.
Each setting has been created with unmatched detail and realism, based
on real-world buildings, materials and environments. Ultra-realistic
texturing recreates war-savaged European locales so real that players
can almost smell the burning gunpowder and feel the broken glass under
their feet.
Features:
- Weapons - As B. J., players unleash hell against the Nazis with an
arsenal of conventional arms such as machine guns, sniper rifles and
flamethrowers as well as secret experimental weapons forged by the mad
scientists of the Reich.
- Technology -- Building on the revolutionary graphics, shader system,
lighting, and terrain technology of the QUAKE III Arena™ engine, Return
to Castle Wolfenstein introduces a number of technological additions.
An all-new skeletal animation system delivers liquid smooth character
movement, and an innovative new camera system captures ultra-realistic
in game cut scenes. The advanced particle system creates lifelike smoke,
fire and other visual effects as players ride vehicles and take over
manned gun turrets in their battle to thwart Himmler's evil plans.
