A Realm of Sorcery, Faith and War. Shadowbane is a game of Magic and Intrigue set in a World almost lost to the ravages of War. Quite often, those who seek power will do so through the formation of Guilds.

The design of Shadowbane adds a large-scale warfare system on top of the fully-functional roleplaying game - allowing the more strategic-minded players to bind together and vie for control of territories within the online world. In a massively multi-user setting, this twist gives rise to a whole new realm of game play - guild politics and siege warfare.

"It's an interesting hybrid of two very distinct genres. At its core, it's still a roleplaying game - but on top of that foundation we've added elements typically common to strategy games, such as creating factions, defending castles, tactical formations, and the expansion of territories," explains Josef Hall, Wolfpack's Founder and President. This represents a marked departure from standard design, as the few Persistent World titles currently in production have concentrated on supporting the Roleplaying game model only.

In addition to being able to support tens (or potentially hundreds) of thousands of players within the same 3D universe at once, Shadowbane will provide, for the first time, an in-game mechanism whereby groups of players can come together to amass armies and build Kingdoms.

General Features

  • Shadowbane promises solo-adventuring, where players can gain levels of experience, amass treasure, or otherwise grow in power, but that merely scratches the surface.

  • The game will include as many as 40 uniquely different character classes to choose from, each of which will be well balanced both at the lower and upper levels of skill.

  • Structured Guild System - Guilds, they aren't just for waylaying people on the road anymore. Shadowbane has a REAL Guild System. Guilds have their own Fighting styles, Skills, Castles, Territories, and more. Guilds gain power through Raiding and Wars, just like their members

  • Detailed Knowledge Tree - with over 300 powers, 70 skills, 22 classes, and 40 sub-class Disciplines, Shadowbane allows for a level of individuality previously unattempted by any other online game!

  • Dialogue will be displayed over your head ala Ultima Online or in an easily accessible chat window. You will also be able to change the font and color of your text.

  • 3D Flexible view - providing the realism and the flexibility of a fully 3d graphical engine.
  • Giving the player complete control over the camera allows the action to be seen from any vantage point.

  • A brand new layering system will lift character to new heights. Throw on a pair of boots, then slip into a pair of pants and your boots are under your pants. Put your boots on after your pants and now your pants are tucked into your boots.
