Star Control 2 was game of the year in 1992. It has since been called by many gaming publications as one of the best PC games of all time. It was open sourced by its creators  in 2002. However, due to Atari owning the copyright to the name, "Star Control" the game was renamed "The Ur-Quan Masters". It has been since updated to run on multiple systems and offer features like internet multi-player.

The game is free, has no DRM, and is open source. It runs in Windows, Mac, & Linux. Android & native Chrome browser support expected soon.
The game needs at least 1280x960 resolution to run the hi-resolution graphics but will have offer a 640x480 mode in the next version.
