Publisher: Konami
Genre: Action
Platform: Playstation 2
Release Date: March 2001

KONAMI GAMERS DAY, SAN FRANCISCO - December 7, 2000 - Konami of America, Inc. announced today a promotion with Zone of the Enders, the newest 3D action game from the famed development studio led by Hideo Kojima, where consumers will receive a free playable demo of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty with the purchase of Zone of the Enders. The demo will be packaged separately and available at participating retailers. Set to ship in late March 2001, Zone of the Enders is a dynamic and graceful game of mech combat and is Konami's first original action title developed specifically for the PlayStation® 2 computer entertainment system. Metal Gear Solid 2 features Solid Snake, the hero of the original smash hit Metal Gear Solid, returning in an action-packed epic that will set a new bench-mark in action gaming. Metal Gear Solid 2 will make its North American debut in Fall 2001. "

Zone of the Enders is kicking off Konami's 2001 action line-up on PlayStation®2 with a powerful one- two punch" said Rick Naylor, Action Brand Manager for Konami of America, Inc. "With the purchase of Zone of the Enders, gamers will experience both the thrill of the game's fast-paced mech combat, and get a chance to play one of next fall's most anticipated games."

In Zone of the Enders, players assume the role of young Leo Stenbuck and take control of a fully armed prototype mech robot. Fighting enemies in white-knuckle space combat, Leo experiences the consequences of battle first-hand and comes to understand the true value of life and the meaning of death. The unique combat system allows for close quarter weapon attacks or long-range laser attacks in a variety of full 3D environments ranging from a space colony to mountain ranges. Additionally, the intuitive control system and versus mode generate heated 2-player battles. Zone of the Enders delivers outstanding graphics, a massive variety of weapons, evolutionary AI and a rich storyline. Created by the development studio behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise; including producer Hideo Kojima; director Noriaki Okamura; mechanical designer Yoji Shinkawa and character designer Nobuyoshi Nishimura; Zone of the Enders pushes the limits of the action genre and the capabilities of the next-generation PlayStation® 2 hardware.
